Darren has a 3rd degree A-C Separation

Darren was riding his bike in Snow Basin and crashed.  He has a 3rd degree A-C separation.  It has been very painful and has forced him to stay home and not do much for a few weeks.  He is doing much better now that  it has been 5 weeks since the accident. He is gaining mobility but still  can't lift his arm very high and the bone is very prominent.

Learning to Sew

Shanee has been learning to sew this summer.  She learned how to cut out a pattern, cut the material and sew up a  pair of shorts with her friend Mariah and her cousins. It took almost an entire day to finish the project but she did a great job.  They even have pleats!  She says they are pajama shorts but I think they are cute enough to wear to school.  I was very impressed!
Last night at Young Womens we learned how to sew a pillow case.  She sewed this cute Halloween pillowcase.  Her brothers are begging her to make one for them.

We are the Champions!

Winners of the Perry 4th of July 5K race.
Kaden won first place for his age group and 4th or 5th place over all
Shanee  won first place for her age group
Kyler won 2nd place for the mile race for his age group.
And Talmage completed the mile race!! He worked really hard to finish and ran/walked it all.
Tina and Margaret ran the 5K as well.

Here are the winners!

Kindergarten Graduate

Kyler Graduated from kindergarten!  (Just a little behind on the posts!)  The photos I took on my phone will not open up anymore so I had to re-take some photos of him in his graduation cap because it is so cute.  He had a fun year in Mrs. Espinoza's class at the new charter school, Promentory School of Expiditionary Learning.  School starts again in only 20 days!

Tavaci Graduate

Shanee had her last Tavaci concert on May 4.  She has been in Tavaci since she was 3 so she graduated with a 9 year trophy.  It is huge!  She has loved it and has learned so many fun songs. Both of her grandmas came up to watch her and we went out to eat at Maddox to celebrate.

Kaden has his first date!

Kaden got asked to MORP by his friend Celeste.  They were in a group with four other couples and had a lot of fun together.  They played ping pong and board games, ate hamburgers and went to the dance.  Hopefully we will see some more pictures from the date in the next few weeks because Kaden says they took pictures.
When Celeste came to pick him up I embarrassed them by making them get their picture taken.

The Ugly Tree Bush is Gone!!

This bush has been driving me nuts.  So I dug around it and cut off the roots and tried to push it down following the advice of some claimed expert.  This didn't work at all.  But when I put a chain around it and hooked it up to the blazer it came out in no time at all.  It looked even more huge when it was down.  It was a pain to get rid of but I think it was worth all the effort to have it gone.

o glad its out and it was worth all the effort!

Shanee finishes seemingly impossible puzzle

We got this puzzle as a gift from Jana a few years ago of Brigham City.  We have never put it together.  Shanee and Kyler started putting it together on Sunday and today (Wednesday) it got finished with the help of dad and mom and Shanee's continued effort.
It was difficult because all of the pieces looked like they were about the same shape and the picture to follow was so small.
It looks awesome so we glued it together and plan on framing it.

Watch Out, Kaden has his drivers license!

Kaden was so excited to get his license.  His birthday was on Sunday so he had to wait until Monday during his lunch hour to go get his license.  I picked him up from school and in no time he had it.  He has been very disappointed that he hasn't been able to drive to school yet this week because Darren is using both the subaru and blazer for work.  But he will be able to drive to school on Thursday and Friday.  He has taken Shanee to practice for me and picked up Darren from the post office.  He is very willing to do any errand I need done!

Spring = Mud

Kyler finally got to ride his Christmas present today, The Green Machine.  We have had so much snow that today is the first day we could get it out.  Dad and Kyler put it together.

A couple of weeks ago the power went out in our neighborhood.  Rocky Mountain Power knocked on our door at 10:20 PM and said they needed to dig up the power line which happened to be in our yard.  The ground was covered in about 2 feet of snow.  Now we can see the big mess they made.  Our yard is so ugly!

4.0

Kaden got a 4.0 again this trimester making it about the 3rd or 4th trimester in a row.  We are so amazed at how well he is doing and thankful he is taking school seriously and know it will really help in his future education.  I am continually impressed with his motivation and work ethic when it comes to school and running .

Yesterday Kaden and his fellow long distance runners were running on Main Street in Brigham and a boy, (Ethan Merideth)  just a few seconds in front of  Kaden was hit by a truck.  Luckily he is okay but the driver did not stop!  And none of the kids thought to get the license plate number.  He was crossing the street on a cross walk by Smiths.

Dinosaur Museum

Shanee, Kyler and Talmage went to the dinosaur museum at Thanksgiving Point.  We met Grandma Harris there.  Kyler has been wanting to go there for months so on president's day  I decided to take them. Kyler started feeling sick and said his stomach hurt and he had a fever.  It was  sad for him because he didn't feel like walking around anymore.  We only got to stay a couple of hours and had to say good bye to grandma.  He went back to my parents house and had some pain medicine and rested a few hours.  We stopped there again on our way home for about an hour so he could do the things he wanted to do.  He was still sick but the tylenol made him feel so much better.  I didn't want to have to take him back there after paying the money to go!

Kyler is not feeling well!

Darren is sick!  He has been sick for more than 2 weeks now with bronchitis.  He says he feels like he can't get enough air.  When he finally went to the doctor after being sick for a week he had an oxygen test done and he was at 95%. He says he feels easily winded by just a little bit of exertion.  So this has been really hard for him.  He hasn't biked for more than 2 weeks! He says his muscles are starting to atrophy.  He coughs like crazy especially at night.  He says this is so terrible he doesn't know how anyone could stand to smoke.

This has been a long winter and we have had someone sick in the family since New Years!  Not an exaggeration!

Everyday Life

The purpose for making this blog is for me as a mom to remember what we have done as a family and the funny everyday moments of  life with a 4, 6, 12, and 15 year old.

Yesterday as we were driving to kindergarten Kyler said "Mom, I don't want to be a zoo keeper."I said, "okay." But that didn't seem to resolve it for Kyler.  He was still very concerned and said "but I don't want to have to be with animals."  I told him he would have to want to work at a zoo to get a job there and go to school to learn about animals to get a job there. And he wouldn't get a job at  a zoo unless he applied for a job there.  He was very relieved when I told him that.  He said "Good, then I'm going to be a construction worker."
Don't know why he thought he would have to work at a zoo!

Kyler also told me that he would like to be adopted or go to a babysitter.  Then he could be with other kids and have fun.  That made me feel really good as a mom!  I tried to explain to him that he was lucky that he had Talmage to play with and that other kids who have to go to a baby sitter sometimes wish that they could be at home.  I know he just  loves to play with other kids but he made me feel kind of sad.

Kyler is toothless!

Kyler has lost two teeth in the last month!  He is losing his teeth much earlier than his older brother and sister did.  He is 6 and in kindergarten.  Shanee and Kaden were 7 and almost in 2nd grade when they lost their first tooth.

He got a rich tooth fairy when he lost his first tooth!  He got $10!  He got a $1 for his second tooth.  He thinks it is because it was so tiny.

First Tooth he lost.  Can you tell it hurt to pull it out?

Second tooth lost on the bottom. His top tooth is almost grown in!

Chef Shanee

Shanee is learning how to cook!

Shanee is making dinner for us every Sunday.  This is a goal she has set in Personal Progress to cook for 10 hours.  So, for the next 10 Sundays we should be eating well! Today she made hamburgers and home made fried potatoes.  It was really hard for her to touch the meat but she did it! Last Sunday she made sweet and sour chicken stir-fry.
